San Francisco, CA- Students at KZV Armenian School celebrated Armenian Cultural Month on October 19th. Students, teachers, and parents took part in celebrating Armenian Cultural Month by participating in various activities over the course of the day. In the morning, students learned about Armenian Embroidery, traditional Armenian dance, and how to make mante. In the afternoon, students participated in Arts and Crafts, reading Armenian stories to one another, and had the opportunity to attend an Armenian book fair.IMG 5590

“The Armenian Department teachers went above and beyond with this year’s cultural program,” said KZV Principal Grace Andonian. “Students had the opportunity to learn hands on about our unique culture. All month long, students have been learning about the Armenian culture. Their cultural projects are displayed all over campus. Students were looking forward to participating in the event today.”

As part of Armenian Cultural Month, students have been doing art projects, learning about the importance of language and culture in their Armenian and religion classes. Every time students walked around campus or in the school courtyard, they would see something related to Armenian Cultural Month. The courtyard had the Armenian alphabet displayed, as well as a quote from His Holiness Aram I, which read, “It is impossible to understand the importance of Armenian History, without the Armenian book.”

Armenian Cultural Month is especially important this year because of the 500th anniversary of the first printed Armenian book. His Holiness Aram I proclaimed 2012 “The year of the Armenian book.”

In its 32nd year, Krouzian-Zekarian-Vasbouragan Armenian School continues to provide an excellent bilingual, bicultural private education in the heart of San Francisco. To learn more about KZV, please visit http://www.kzv.org/">www.KZV.org.Tarkmantchats Day 1
