California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom sends Congratulatory Message!
SAN FRANCISCO, CA- California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom sent a letter to the Krouzian-Zekarian-Vasbouragan Armenian School principal, school board, students, and families. In the letter dated October 18, Lt. Governor Newsom congratulated the school on its 32nd annual banquet.
“As the only Armenian Day School in Northern California, I applaud the KZV Armenian School’s efforts to provide Armenian history, language, and culture, while at the same time upholding a Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredited curriculum,” stated Lt. Governor Newsom.
Lt. Governor Newsom has had a close relationship with the Armenian-American community in San Francisco since his time as Supervisor and Mayor of San Francisco. As Supervisor, Newsom supported the sale of the Mount Davidson Cross to the Council of Armenian-American Organizations of Northern California who preserved the landmark and installed a bronze plaque at the base honoring the victims of the Armenian Genocide. As Mayor of San Francisco, Newsom issued annual proclamations commemorating the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As Lieutenant Governor of California, Newsom has issued Proclamations commemorating the Armenian Genocide and met with Holiness Aram I to during his pontifical visit to San Francisco in October of 2011.

Now in its 32nd year, the Krouzian-Zekarian-Vasbouragan Armenian School continues to provide an excellent bilingual, bicultural private education in the heart of San Francisco. The school was established in 1980 for students from preschool to eight grade. The first graduating class was in 1988, and today the school has more than 300 alumni. KZV offers our students a rich educational and cultural foundation, an academically rigorous learning environment, a keen sense of community, and a model of learning and respect for the rest of their lives.
