Vana Andonian
Class of 2008
Vana is a Class of 2008 alumna. After KZV she attended Mills High School in Millbrae, graduating in 2012. Vana worked hard in high school and was accepted to the University of California, Santa Barbara. She graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor's of Science in Biological Sciences and a minor in English. She played soccer and basketball for her high school team. At a young age, she became a member of AYF and is one of the founding members of the local Armenian Youth Camp and serves on its Board of Directors. She also was a member of Homenetmen San Francisco and played on the girls' basketball team and did scouts. Working with kids has become her passion, and she wants to ensure that the next generation is full of strong Armenians ready to help Armenia and Artsakh.
Currently, Vana is the 3rd Grade homeroom teacher, as well as the 6th-grade math teacher. She says that teaching was not her original career choice, but after helping out at KZV, she found an intense enthusiasm to become a teacher. She loves working with kids and says that the best part about being a teacher is seeing that "lightbulb" moment when a student finally understands a concept. It's so fulfilling for her.
What she loved about KZV most was the hot lunch and competing in Mathcounts. She said, "I guess that foreshadowed my becoming a math teacher!"
